Spirit Flame

​

A crescent moon above the earth, 

a circle forms beneath the stars, 

before the fire my eyes reflect the spirit flame. 

Leaping wildly in the night 

as they bathe the shadows with their light, 

whispering to me the sacred mysteries. 

And I’m drawn to the water’s edge, naked to the wind. 

Deep down I go, she takes me in. I ride her wave.

The river runs, feet touch the sand 

as I dance upon this sacred land 

with stone and crystal gem held firmly in my hand. 

I shake the rattle, hear the drum 

and I sing the songs of ancient ones 

to guide us safely home into our hearts.

And I rise through the clouds of smoke, circling in the air. 

I’m spiraling like a star in flight, five beams of light.

​

The burning sage, hands held in round 

as guardian hosts bring forth a sound 

of healing voices sending light to all our loved ones. 

I am at peace, I’m not afraid. 

I have come home in this familiar way. 

Deep in their eyes I recognize the kindred spirit flame. 

Say a prayer for those you care for. 

Guide them safely home into their hearts.
